7-11 and Yoodo
To kill 3 birds with one stone, I would suggest Yoodo collaborat with 7-11. Yoodo may drop a few simpack at at the 7-11 stores and free issue to the 7-11 customer by telling them, upon activation of the Yoodo simpack and show to the staff, you may get a free drink (Slurpee perhaps, let your brain freeeeeze!). By doing this:
1) 1st killed bird: Solve the simpack delivery problem where numbers of potential users not able to receive their simpack. We can make use of the convenience and abundance of 7-11 outlet as our strong backbone.
2) 2nd killed bird: Promoting Yoodo to even more potential users with minimal advertisement cost. You cannot imagine how large the walk in customer pool that 7-11 might have daily.
3) 3rd killed bird: Help 7-11 to boost their sales. Someone may walk away with the free Slurpee alone, but there might be someone else walk away with additional purchased goods.
What do you think?

Haha. nice try @FOONG WENG KHONG
But i wondering is it inline with Yoodo's operation principle? (digital commerce platform).
Another interesting point is, referral program might not works by such? or Yoodo just leave some referral code there randomly picked by customer? haha
-
Digital platform does not really matter, but end result does. Bruce Lee once said, you put water in a cup and it becomes a cup shape, you put it in a bottle then it becomes a bottle shape -- be water, my friend!
In such case referral programe may be does not work since the user is "actively" in touch with Yoodo rather than being referred by anyone. But if you hardcore enough, you can camp at 7-11 to share your referral code then you will be damn rich. But then again, you will be like a yoodo staff who assist those newbie to activate their sim, you deserve the referral RM20 credit for the hard work. LOL
-
Holycow, I like the quote u shared FOONG WENG KHONG
And got point too, if you wanna earn the referral bonus, just make a camp there. hahaha
well, I guess Yoodo could probably consider this where we all know, it will resolve the delivery issues (Am faced it too).
-
Actually no need to train 7-11 staff. Because the activation steps of Yoodo are pretty self explantory, if you follow the steps in the app, then it is done. The staff focus on giving away free sim and free drink will do.
For those who activated yoodo sim via 7-11, should be grab properly to ensure they turn into loyal user rather than an one-time user due to the free drink.
-
And another thing which is of importance, rarely people appreciate free things. Especially sim cards.
If they just walk in to any convenience stores, grab a free sim (maybe 5 since it's there for grab), they might or might not activate that card.
As what Yoodo has been doing, if you really want to use Yoodo line because of the benefits it offers, you go the extra mile registering your name, phone number and address to have that sim card delivered to your doorstep.
Or as some of us has been doing, offer our assistance to help activate as long as we get the benefit as a referral. -
@earnie, the key strategy here is “you get free stuff by register something”, which always catch ppl eyeballs. I was introduced here in yoodo via Boost app last time which advertise free rm50 credit (rm20 in yoodo and rm30 in Boost), then I realised yoodo is what I need. tech savvy ppl will take care of themselves, and we tackle the rest, the more the merrier right?
-
Its interesting to know that 7-11 and u-mobile under the same boss.
I do agree that peoples' mindset on free stuffs - "since free, why not I just grab a few" even they are not using them.
But since we touched on the convenient stores, some how I'm thinking that Yoodo could probably collaborate with them in another way - allowing self-pickup at nearest convenient stores after requesting a sim pack. Just that the portion of rewards might need to restudy.
-
LOH-JIK-NEN previously already have the same suggestion to make these kind of convenience store as self pick up location. I think is feasible.
-
FOONG WENG KHONG good suggestion, we've tried a collaboration with Grab, which was very successful. 7-11, starbucks, McD Delivery etc all sound pretty simple and straight forward, but the actual contract, execution, cost are way more complicated, thus why we haven't done much and focus where we get the most bang for our buck at the moment, which is digital space.
This year we're looking to do more collaboration, especially with influencers etc, that's also why I'm doing more smaller meet-ups this year all around. Strategy wise, we can only do so much with the budgets that we have,
Personally I've love to have Yoodo ad on TV, image if everyone know they can try a Telco contract-free and get RM 20 to start their journey.. our orders will be off the roof! :D
Lastly, Bruce Lee rocks! haha
-
theJeff Yes, user might not know what they need, until you tell them Yoodo is there as one of their options.
I went to TGV cinema the other day after getting the free movie ticket from the JB meet up. I surprised to see Yoodo ads appear on the screen and I think it is really a good move because all ppl have nothing to do but stare at the screen. But i think the ads itself has somehow lost its focus on Yoodo customize-able feature, you may feedback to the related team on this. =D
-
I don't recall such ads when I was in the cinema
But yea, If ads is there, focus point on custom-able would be good. Can often see that, youngster need mostly data while eldest need mostly calls.
Emphasizing on free RM20 for startup also great, so far I haven't see a FREE SIM with RM20 credit in any prepaid.
-
LOH-JIK-NEN That ads was quite mou lei tau and not organized, this moment they mention customization, next moment talk other irrelevant thing, and never touch on the free credit RM20. A bit sayang
-
FOONG WENG KHONG oooh,
Nevermind, now this has been brought up to Jeff & Yoodo, at least some improvement can be done in next advertising.
-
thanks for the feedback, there are few different ads actually and no RM 20 is not a selling point haha although it's nice to have, it's the customization, the fact we're contract free so customers choose what they want, when they want it are some of the main unique selling points for Yoodo :D

Untuk 7-11 tu, kena latih kakitangan supaya mereka berikan SIM Yoodo sekiranya beli barang, bukannya latih mereka untuk aktifkan SIM.
Sebab pernah ja, syarikat X buat promosi, beli barang A, dapat barang B. Kita pun pergilah ke kedai X, beli barang A. Bila ditanya tentang barang B yang percuma, kakitangan dengan selambanya kata tak tahu. Sedih.. 😭😭😭
