RLH2 in Vietnam - Viettel 3G / Vinaphone 3G
Hi, as per title this is my first message from Vietnam Roaming partners, later will upload more details guidelines and bugs.
-
To connect instruction:
1. Purchase RLH plan in advance and activate when landing within 30 days.
2. Search network manually, VNM Viettel 3G (4G or 2G is unusable)
3. Enable Data Roaming, and set APN as Yoodo (celcom3g will not working)
4. Your internet will working now, average 11-15 Mbps for download and 3-6 Mbps for upload.
5. SMS was working charm even without international code needed.
6. Calls was failed in both with or without international code, reason unknown as never ring but showed call failed.P/s: Didn't receive welcome messages upon arrival or connected.
My suggestions is Yoodo connect automatically to roaming partners upon arrival and send sms of instructions like other telcos did, also let the RLH kept rolling (automatically renewal) until we turn it off manually.
Conclusions: RLH is too hard for those newbie or unfamiliar travelers. But once setup perfectly, the speed and quality was truly amazing even it's just supported 3G/H+ only.

@Jeff,
Day 3 as beta tester:
Today we tried to connect VN Mobifone but due to rural areas that will let us stayed in 2G only since 3G was not found and we couldn't connect to 4G either.Line was frequent dropped but still usable, calls and texting is working even we in somewhere in ocean and cave ;)
Still, our favourite is Viettel but looking for that call bugs can be fix asap as Vinaphone is not so stable after leaved cities/towns.

Hi CHAN YONG GEE, thanks for your feedback. Just a quick update to mentioned that there's not gonna be any auto renewal for RLH 1 or 2.
We have proposed this, when there's an update - I will surely update the Community as well :)

Lol Chew, I do agreed with you in cheaper...
But there is some info you need to know...
Example Vietnam and some countries will block you anytime if unregistered or non-flagship shops, yes it'll cheaper in outside airports but it's also unreliable too.No.2 How can you guarantee that staffs or oversea telcos will not misuse your identity, let's assuming you register in airports/agents.
No.3 Cheaper with local sim, but there is QUOTA too. How you going topup/reload on your own if you're not familiar with local language?
Please DON'T assuming that everyone in other countries is understanding english.Above is my answers for you and reference for others.

Answering to
(1) End 2016, Vietnam Government have cancelled estd 12 million illegal SIM as what you stated.
Logically, like Malaysia...registered properly from an approval provider....mostly at airport and i am sure whoever work at airport can speak understable english...right?
(2) Misused yorur identity/overseas telco selling yoru info?...you must be kidding right? You visit Vietnam and don't trust their registration system...only use your passport...Not your Malaysia ID card to register?
What can they do with your passport identity?
Do you know that Malaysia leak personal data about 46million way back mobile number subcriber Year 2017?
So Malaysia very safe kah?
At least ..Vietnam Government remove illegal SIM registered about 12 million..
Malaysia le?..any news...i can honestly tell you up to now..i even have one illegal registered sim still running goods for years...
(3) All country have quota lo..
You think those vietnam/prc or other country come visit Malaysia familiar with Malay/English language?
if i am not mistaken...paying rm30 got 7GB data quota lo.
People like You and me surely do googling to get the best rate before we travel..right?
Betol taK?

happy Holidays WONG MENG JIAN :)

WONG MENG JIAN thanks for the update and enjoy your holidays!
Good catch on the welcome message, should be there! I'll raise it up to the team
As for Auto-renew RLH, not going with that cause if User forgets, they'll be getting recurring charges which isn't good. But will suggest it as well! and see if we can go ahead (with options to the users).

Morning Jeff and Yoodoers
Day 2 as beta tester:
1. Could not buy next credit as advance if existing 24 hours credit still running, and there is no automatically renewal as well.
2. Once near to 24 hour cycle, it's will showed Viettel (data connection only) and you'll get completely network outages.
How should we going re-connect manually and re-buy new RLH plan if we were outside or out of wifi?
3. Today I was tried out Vinaphone, but only managed connected 3G only and speed was around 3 Mbps for both upload and download.
4. Call and SMS was working perfectly, but call is need some buffering time and not mistakes configured like Viettel yesterday did.P/s: Viettel showed +84 011xxxx
While Vinaphone showed 011xxxx even dialing with +6011xxx (Dialing with +60 is required when roaming with RLH)Conclusions: As a tech savvy and travellers, it's not big deals for me to troubleshoot/connect manually for me. But what's about those oldfolk/ladies who got disconnected (network lost) after daily RLH over?
My suggestions is still the same, let auto-renewal ON BY DEFAULT unless they turn off manual like our monthly renew option.
Otherwise, sms or in-app notification to users before 1-2 hours before renew. For travelers, we just need hassle-free and reliable, that's easy only.We hope the best for Yoodo, will kept beta-ing, Thanks Everyone.

since RLH feature is 24 hour only renewal.
it will be wise if User can choose to purchase Daily or Bi Daily the most..
Auto renewal BETTER not an option.
Since it is RM10 to purchase RLH for Singapore country
Calculation
Using RM10 as a standard fee....mean if stay at Viet for 7 days mean extra RM70.
It would be wiser to buy local sim aka..Vinaphone/Viettel. than ROAM using Yoodo

Hi Jeff,
Day 4 as beta tester:
Finally we saw improvements in Yoodo RLH, we still able re-order online after existing RLH expired, this is good compared to previous kicked us out once expired. In Hue, Vinaphone gave us 8 Mbps download speed and 5 Mbps upload speed and all services was working smoothly.
-
My friends feedback:
Vietnam: Danang and Hoi An
Internet speed consider ok, Download 5.xx Mbps Upload 0.09 Mbps
Call: ok, can make/ receive call. But don’t know why call forward from Digi fail. Work while in Malaysia , not working at Vietnam.
Line coverage poor while at indoor. Same problem here (Malaysia).
Thank you Yoodo for free beta RLH2
-
Thanks WONG MENG JIAN, I've passed on your update and suggestions to the team :)

Agree with Chew, should launch for affordable RLH plan, week/monthly.
RM10.00 daily plan only good for short trip, unless we visiting the country that really high cost in telco service fee. Depends, prepare a calculator before we plan to visit that country, counting which option more suitable for us. Wakaka
