Yoodo more expensive with GST=0%??
AnsweredMy 2000mins call plan just got renewed. Prior to 1st June, I only get charged RM11.32 (as RM0.68 GST was absorbed by Yoodo). Now with GST=0%, I got charged RM12. How is this making sense? Yoodo is more expensive with GST = 0%??
-
1) Prepaid was exempted (or subject to rebate) of 6% gst.
2) Previously Malaysian pay RM11.32, and others pay RM12 for 2000 min call plan.
3) Yes, price of call & sms plan has slightly increased.
4) Yes, price of data plan has reduced by 15 to 25%.
5) Yes, it is much appreciated if Yoodo to inform customers beforehand in the events of price changes. -
Hi CHONG KEN WOOI Yes you're right. The prices for Voice/SMS are adjusted slightly higher than before.
It's been a long time coming to remain competitive (as our Voice charges especially were very low to sustain), and we took this opportunity to revise the prices (although it's cents for most, but it's still an increase). To compensate for this, we're brought down our Data prices of even up to 21% or atleast 15% in most packets.
And to be honest it's also almost impossible with our interface to display RM 2.83 on our sliders and so on (not the biggest reason, but just being open here). Generally Telcos don't let customers choose the flexibility like we offer, so we're really glad we're able to do that and offer competitive if not the best prices for our customers but this small adjustment is something we had to do, hope our customers would continue to support Yoodo :)
However I completely agree with MUHAMMAD AZLAN SHAHBIN CHE AHMAD that although we reserve the rights to adjust our prices, we could have communicated this better and I apologize for that on behalf of the team. We will continue to strive to be open, and communicate all things to our customers always!
Thanks again :)
Jeff

1. Voice & sms is declining n you have tonnes of idle capacity sitting there but you still chose to increase the price. Else why the heck all telco is giving unlimited voice n sms. Yoodo is part of celcom special project. Dont tell us you bought it more expensive.
2.Talking about UI also not making sense. Previously we selected round number but your billing system still can charge lower amount after exclude gst. What kind of honesty explaination is this?
3. Your data price decrease will last how long? As long as you increase the voice n sms price or ends after raya promo? -
#1 -Yoodo is Yoodo actually :) we're running on Celcom's Network, the business model and product offerings are exclusive to Yoodo. As to what other Telcos offer and why, that's entirely up to their prerogative, our products are based on what we believe our customers need. As mentioned, when it comes to Voice/SMS we're already one the best priced in the market.
#2 - You might have mistaken UI and Purchase Invoice received via email. Our UI has never shown decimal number, before or now. It was only the Invoice received in email that reflected the discount, this was what I was referring to on my explanation on the previous post.
#3 - Data prices, OR any other prices. There's absolutely no guarantee not with us, nor any Telco or other products out there that it won't change. This is the nature of any business to be honest. As for Yoodo, will we drop prices further? Will there be offer other promo/discounts? Will we increase anything? Definitely I can't promise any of that, but judging from the past 4 months we've been around, pretty much can say there will be awesome promos coming up.

Yah, thanks Jeff for the explanation. Actually I am too a happy Yoodo user. Even with the change of prices, I still think it's a good deal.
I guess the issue here is like what Muhammad Azlan has mentioned, the communication of it could have been done better so users are not surprised.

"It's been a long time coming to remain competitive (as our Voice charges especially were very low to sustain), and we took this opportunity to revise the prices (although it's cents for most, but it's still an increase). - Yoodo admitted it took OPPORTUNITY on the occasion. This explained why no advance communication. Every business is supposed to reduce the price but Yoodo took opportunity to increase with the justification that they can't sustain on low prices anymore. This does not hold water. Sure, Yoodo has every right to increase the price at any time. But is this ethical to take opportunity to increase price, i leave it to people to evaluate.
- Yoodo mentioned the data price down is to compensate the price increment of voice/sms. So this is not a general promotion that no one knows when it will stop. This data price down is a consequence of price increment in voice/sms. So, the data price reduction should last as long as the price voice and sms increased. Else, please don't say to this is a compensation. Just say this is a promo.

Regardless of what has been discussed here, I support Yoodo. From my point of view, the price hike is merely because Yoodo doesn't absorb the GST anymore (which they have have been doing previously) since govt has announced no GST. Thus the price, came back normal, which is fair to end user (what you buy is what you get, nothing more, nothing less).
For me (I am speaking for myself), who has been with Yoodo from the start, I have observed that their approach is win-win. Surely we do not expect a fledgling company to give much like the mainstream telco. But Yoodo has been outstanding in fulfilling what they advertised.
Keep up the good work Yoodo because I know #yoodoitbetter
-
@earie, Yoodo actually increased the price beside the fact they don't absorb the gst anymore as shared by another user. You are actually paying more.
Well if based on before 1June, the actual price of 2000mins is RM11.32 (minus 6% GST), correct? So if with GST=0%, shouldn't the price still remain RM11.32? By charging RM12, doesnt this mean the price is hiked up by 6%?
I won't reserve my support for the good features and pricing that Yoodo is offering. However, I just have concern on the way they implement things and way of justification.

Hi CHAN WENG KEET, thanks for your feedback and opinion. Appreciate you taking time to go into details as well. Whether positive or negative, as long as it's objective - it's a dialogue that we welcome.
As for the explanations, I've addressed the few things you brought up, Promo is different than Price Reduction; RM 10 for 10 GB, that's a promo, it has a date range on it. Price reduction is different, reduced till mentioned otherwise. Just like any company, Yoodo reserves the right to change this at any point. What I apologized for above is that the communication could have been better, totally agreed on that.
As for rest of the stuff you mentioned, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, I can't address it any further with a different answer to what I've already given. Have a good day ahead, cheers :)

#1 -Yoodo is Yoodo actually :) we're running on Celcom's Network, the business model and product offerings are exclusive to Yoodo.
- Yoodo is not just Yoodo. Yoodo is registered under CELCOM AXIATA BERHAD [ Registrant Code: RKEY0000336465 ] according to MYNIC records. If Yoodo is Yoodo, the business registration name should NOT be Celcom Axiata. Just to set the record straight and let everyone be informed.
-
Yoodo is most definitely Yoodo :D
Yes we're Celcom's Digital Startup, but it doesn't mean our product offerings are shared nor same. Exactly what I explained above.
Also, the record has always been straight in regards to that even since Day 1 when we launched (sharing one of the many articles that came out at that time where it's mentioned Yoodo is by Celcom) > https://technave.com/gadget/Yoodo-s-customizable-mobile-plan-goes-official-from-RM30-for-5GB-of-data-a-month-11474.html
Cheers :)

@ Chan
Apreciate if you could stay on the topic discussed: Price increase for call/sms plan.RM12 is all you have to pay for 2000 minit call to all numbers for 30 days period. For 33 hours, RM11.32 or RM12 is dirt cheap! Can u name one telco that offers that much of airtime for a price that low?
Yes customers literally pay extra 68 cents monthly for 33 hours talktime from June onwards, but to sane minded its definitely not a big deal.
In case you hadn't noticed, the advertised prices for sms/call remain. No changes since launch. The only difference is now we pay exactly as shown, whereas previously 6% discount will be applied post purchase. Again, please name one telco that had us pay lower than the advertised price. In fact, most of them display their prices before gst (means you'll eventually pay more than what you see).
@ thejeff
Eventhough you have acknowledged that miscommunication happened regarding the issue above, I think you're not obligated to respond to every troll or condescending comments. This community board should preserve its unique familial feel to yoodo subscribers and avoid being like facebook comment section.Lastly I'm of the opinion that "6% discount has ended!" or "pay as advertised!" is not a news material to me. It's nice if businesses reach customers on this thing, but its perfectly ok even if they don't.

Aku rasa problem sbnrnya adalah yoodo x inform customer pasal ni. Benda pasal gst ni mmg mudah buat org triggered. Aku x mempersoalkan harga dia. Mmg murah rm12 untuk 2000 min. Tapi problem dia dtgnya pada yoodo sbb x inform. Sepatutnya diaorg inform dekat customer. Bru la xde org marah.
-
Alright found my answer here. Dear yoodo i have to admit your package are the best at the moment but dont take the customer for granted we can and will change if needed. Look at PRU14 😁. Your competitor are near. Fyi ookyo maxis rm8 unlimited call and sms. Gst was exempted for prepaid such as yoodo kan so its not absorbed by yoodo but by msian gov starting 2016. So the end point u did increase the price for call and sms at a wrong time when gst was zero rated and without informing customer. Ur data price reduction only benefits data user. Amount is small but u could have done it better. So take heed and improve. Ur still the best options so kudos to that. 👍

Thanks, appreciate the constructive feedbacks TANASEGARAN A/LKUPPUSAMY, MUHAMMAD HAFIZUL HAFIZBIN HARON and welcome to our Community! :)
-
Thanks Tanasegaran for the info on prepaid was actually exempted from GST. The correct way was telco to deduct 6% upon activation but telco needs to add back the 6% into the balance later within 24hrs. This debunk the "myth" that Yoodo was subsidizing the GST and clear the perception that certain user had on the 5.7% discount given.
Being the cheapest price doesn't mean the way they conduct is proper. How I wish Yoodo actually got the courage to come out from its closet to clarify on the perception on so called 6% subsidize prior to 1st June. I would appreciate if someone could just correct me if they could prove what I stated is wrong than simply labelling it as troll.
-
Dear chan. Yes i agree with you. Seems like the superusers are just looking the cost not at how it is was increased. Calling you a troll is uncalled for and unprofessional in my opinion and yoodo admin please control your superusers. Too biased. When people complain means they care enuf to tell you something is wrong. Remember the fiasco maxis got into. Imagine if someone posted that yoodo increased price after gst zero rated. The reputation damage will be a nightmare. Yoodo need to clarify though. Gst exempted or absorbed by them. Based on my reading prepaid gst exempted by gov..
-
Hi guys, thanks for your feedbacks. I've pretty much updated all that is on this topic on the abovementioned comments. Yoodo is a hybrid, neither prepaid nor postpaid, we are bound by 6% GST .
Totally agreed that people do care enough to take the time to bring up certain issues, that's also what I've already mentioned above to acknowledge and appreciate as well as point out our perspective as well as a personal apology and which areas we can, and will improve moving forward. I believe that truly is the case, moving forward - what can be done better. So thanks, definitely hoping we'll be even better. And should we fall short, I'm also counting on the rest of our Community to keep us in check (definite learnings from PRU14).
-
@zainordin bin shahlal, please point out which part I mentioned was incorrect and specifically how did I troll. Calling name is easy but it will be better if we can present a point logically so that everyone has good understanding and keep businesses on their toes. This way, we as a consumer will get a fair deal.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. So what happened now after SST is reintroduced and then the 6% rebate is reintroduced to prepaid?
Yoodo being hybrid, I can imagine things can get worst.
So earlier GST reduction but no price reduction.
When SST is introduced, is there price increase?
When rebate for prepaid is done, price decrease or Yoodo still give reason no rebate because it is hybrid rather than prepaid?
Honest question because I have no idea how to check this.
