Questions from an iOS User
AnsweredWell... Let me be the first one to ask tons of questions that are related to iOS and these are FAQs that iOS users usually ask. Hopefully this post will eventually make it to one of the FAQ pages. Anyway... The following are questions that I have and need to be answered by Yoodo.
1. Could we use Yoodo SIM to activate our iMessage and FaceTime? (There are a few telcos that are new to the market and we can’t activate our number to use it on iMessage and FaceTime. It’s a bummer.)
2. Does Yoodo supports Apple carrier billing like Celcom or XPAX do?
That’s all I could think of for now. If there are anymore questions, I’ll be asking about it on this thread. I like the concept of Yoodo and by far is the best that I’ve seen in comparison with Ookyo by Maxis and Tapp by Digi. Hope that I’ll be one of your loyal customer over the years!

Hi Lee, from what I've checked -the other 2 lines don't have Data purchased and active on it. iMessage & Facetime needs data along with an active line that can receive SMS to be functional. Alternatively, you can try using WiFi to test this out further. Do let me know how it goes? Thanks

Hi Sarah, could you retry the steps and activate or reactivate your Apple Id on the device? Sometimes it's the case when a new Sim is used. Should it still remain unsuccessful do get in touch with us (live chat or ticket) so we can help troubleshoot it futher. Thanks

Hi theJeff,
I have total 3 lines with Yoodo. Why didn’t you mentioned my 1st activated line, 011. iMessage still cannot be used after > 1 week. Already googled & tried many “tricks” fr internet, but none of them works including apple support link that u provided. But the same iPhone using other telco was working fine.
That’s the reason why the other 2 lines without data purchased.
Thanks.

Got it Lee, well then could you try out this support to reset the iMessage & FaceTime from Apple itself? IF not do follow their instructions to contact them.

As for Yoodo, the telco itself doesn't have any restrictions. As for carriers as long as you're able to receive SMS then it's the other items on that link about to troubleshoot. The few instances we've had, the customer had to reset his iMessage/Facetime settings (this cause iOS keeps the previous settings and when SIM is changed, those details aren't updated on it's own in some cases). Hope that helps clarify

Hi Sjamsuddin, boleh ikut cadangan di komen atas dari Apple Support. Selain itu tiada settings lain utk aktifkan. Jika ada Data dan line Yoodo active, sepatutnya dah okay.

Finally iMessage got activated. I followed the below steps
- Make sure you turn off iMessage and FaceTime
- Sign out of Apple ID on your iPhone
- Hard Reset (Power switch + Home key)
- Sign back in
- Made sure "Location Services" is ON
- Made sure "Date and Time" settings are set to AUTO TIMEZONE
- If any of the above 2 are changed then restart your phone
- Turn on iMessage (Wait for 1-2 mins)
- Turn on FaceTime (For me it is still waiting, need to find what is wrong)

Thanks Raviprakash! That's good to know. Can please update us as well after your FaceTime goes through as well?
We are seeing some of our customers facing this issue, we couldn't replicate this on our end as about 20-30 iPhone iMessage/FaceTime activate we have tried so far all have been successful. Your comment above really helps, thanks again!

Hi theJeff/ All,
Finally got both to activate. As of now the root cause I can see is IDD SMS outgoing (It has to be active). I have updated the steps below.
- As a pre-requisite. iMessage and FaceTime activation needs outgoing SMS to Apple-US servers which means you need to have Zone A SMS pack activated before performing below steps
- Make sure you turn off iMessage and FaceTime
- Sign out of Apple ID on your iPhone
- Hard Reset (Power switch + Home key)
- Sign back in
- Make sure "Location Services" is ON
- Make sure "Date and Time" settings are set to AUTO TIMEZONE. If already set then change back to manual, select other timezone (any time zone other than KL) and activate back to Auto so the time is updated to Kuala Lumpur time (MYT)
- Restart your phone
- Turn on iMessage (Wait for 1-2 mins)
- Turn on FaceTime
- Walla!! its activated.
Important Note: If you have already tried activation without performing above steps then you need to wait 24 hours as your Apple ID has rejected the activation of both iMessage and FaceTime and the time to wait is at-least 24 hours.

Hi AHMAD ASHRAF BIN ABDUL AZIZ, while for most it's not an issue, and few others the method Raviprakash mentioned worked.
For others who couldn't still activate their iMessage/FaceTime we're working with Apple to find a solution from the Network side itself. I'm also in the loop of this conversation so I'll update here the moment I get any updates. Apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.

LEE HAN BOON that's quite a unique issue that has happened to a few iOS users. Our engineering side is looking at it and hopefully we'll have a fix for this early next week. Will keep you updated! Thanks for highlighting it

I got stuck at "Confirm your personal information". When I click confirm I get the Error Failed to take the picture. Have contacted Live Chat 3 times in two weeks, with a message the team is still fixing the issue. Was told that it's an iOS issue. I am wondering how do other iOS users are able to activate.

Hi CHI BEE CHIN , Let me get someone to check your account and get back to you.
Basically, we have whitelisted the iMessage/FaceTime activation SMS (Meaning there is No Need to purchase Zon A IDD SMS package)
But still some of the devices having this issue. We'll try to get in touch with Apple for clarification. Thanks
