Hi guys, hope everyone has been well! Thought I'd share my experience a lil bit on the title..
I was in UK & Paris between end May and mid June 2023 for a holiday. Ofcourse working in Yoodo, I used our Roam Like Home, which is awesome! To also try, and since I have a few devices (family members), I also used CelcomDigi roaming & bought a simcard there (GiffGaff).
Obviously, UK is a 'first world country' and much is expected but I was totally shocked to find 5G is hardly available. There are very few places (main train station, some parts of the london city area). When you're on the tube, or even train, most stations it goes down to 3G. Best bet is getting 4G at other places.
I even took a train up to Manchester, yup same .. 3G on train. 4G in city area there. Hardly had 5G anywhere at all in Paris, at least at the tourist locations that I went. So many places had to rely on wifi to check a website or send whatsapp.
It was a breath of fresh, right after landing back home in KLIA! Even on the ride back home, it was 5G, some areas stronger signal than others, but at least you get it. And being back at work and around the city area, malls etc.. most of the places already have 5G coverage.
I know we're not fully 100% covered with 5G every areas, especially non-urban place but it's still pretty good and I'm sure we'll get there soon enough, maybe even sooner than many other countries. Just cause you get 5G reception, doesn't also mean you immediately get super fast 1Gbps or something but it's an improvement, and more things are coming which will help us move forward further in this direction! :)
So yea! just sharing a bit, I also usually complain a lot but after coming back, I appreciate what we have a lil more now!
