Lost 5G after changing to eSIM
AnsweredMy area is under 5G coverage and my device also support 5G. When I use Yoodo sim, I can see 5G from my phone.
It is however after I switch to eSIM, it becomes 4G+.
Previously I used Umobile, and also Unifi (backup sim). Both also show 5G all the time.in my area.
I also double-check my phone setting. it is set to auto-detect 5G.
What could be the problem that UMobile, Unifi and Yoodo can show 5G, but Yoodo eSIM is NEVER? same phone, same setting, same area.....

Hi LAU KWAI LING we are sorry to hear that you are facing an issue accessing 5G with eSIM. If you're tried the steps below, and the problem continues, please reach out to Yoodo live chat or Whatsapp 011 5622 2222 for help 😊
Step 1: Go to Setting > Connection > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Select LTE/3G/2G (Auto Connect)
Step 2: Go to Setting > Connection > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Select 5G/LTE/3G/2G (Auto Connect) -
Thanks for the comments. I contacted Yoodo to look into this.
For the phone setting, I double-check. It is set as 5G/LTE/3G/2G (I think this is the phone's default setting as it also applies to my other previous sim, e.g. Umobile, Unifi.... even Maxis doesn't have 5G but still set as 5G/LTE/3G/2G). Hence got 5G signal from Umobile and Unifi.
The plan is a high-speed plan (5g pass).
When I use Yoodo physical sim, there is a 5G signal occasionally. But after switching to eSim, I couldn't see 5g anymore.
I'm not sure if this is a coverage issue or other issue. I checked from DNB site on coverage. My area is under 5g coverage. To my understanding, DNB builds 5g infra. So my assumption is 5g coverage suppose the same across telcos that have an agreement with DNB to provide 5g service (or this is a wrong assumption?). I have no issue getting 5g from Umobile and Unifi consistently.
Yoodo has created a case to have the network team look into it.
